The Catholic Church has a rich tradition in education which begins with the true understanding of who man is and for what he is destined. At DeSales, we strive daily to live the advice of our namesake, Saint Francis DeSales, “be who we are, and be that well, to do honor to the Master Craftsman whose handiwork we are.” Educating for life takes its fullest meaning in the abundant life found in Jesus Christ, striving to provide students with excellence in academics, faith formation, and community spirit. Taking into account the dignity, freedom, and unique needs of each student, we provide a rigorous curriculum enlivened by faith within a Christ-centered environment that helps students discover who they are and how to best use their talents as God intended.
At the Walla Walla Catholic Schools, our students are taught to recognize the dignity of the human person as created in the image and likeness of God, and to recognize their own individual worth as a result. Rooted in that truth, we work to educate the whole person, mind, body, and soul. The Catholic faith informs all that we do at the Walla Walla Catholic Schools, but it is not required to become Catholic before or after enrolling. We welcome all students who are open to and respectful of the Catholic tradition.
Faith formation is a significant part of student life at DeSales. Students take a Theology course each semester, and participate in a rich sacramental life. Students participate in weekly Mass, reconciliaton, annual retreats, service to the community. In addition, DeSales students celebrate important Solemnities in the liturgical calendar with non-academic days spent in community with Assumption students.
